the belief that it is the astronomical world that is the literal heaven spoken of in Abrahamic religions, or is the intermediate state that requires transversing prior to reaching the extracosmical state of heaven.

ORIGINS AND ETYMOLOGY

Astro-English: from Astronese, the adjective supernal is used to denote “that which is heavenly and celestial” and is conjoined with the suffix -ism to denote “a belief held” which gives significant breadth for the application of this term in the context of Astronism.
