ORIGINS AND ETYMOLOGY
Astro-English: from Astronese, the adjective sentient in Astronism takes on a slightly different though still related meaning to its general usage; in Astronist contexts, the adjective refers to “the quality of a species to feel pain, but that the species has not evolved to the degree of the intelligence of humanity”; the use of the suffix -ism denotes “the belief that extraterrestrial life exists but that all of which is below human intelligence.”
